Pausha Putrada Ekadashi falls on the eleventh day of the bright fortnight of Pousha and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Couples traditionally fast and pray on this day for the wellbeing of their children, and the day is also kept for charity and spiritual cleansing.
The katha tells of King Suketuman of Bhadravati, who had no child. On the advice of sages he kept this fast, after which a son was born to him.
