about

Kamika Ekadashi falls on the eleventh day of the dark fortnight of Shrabana, during Chaturmas, and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Devotees fast, avoid grain, chant and read scripture through the day and night, and give to the needy, in the belief that the day removes sin and draws them closer to liberation.

The Brahma Vaivarta Purana gives this katha as Krishna's reply to Yudhishthira. A man who has killed a Brahmin in anger is advised by a sage to keep this fast, and he is freed from his guilt. Tellings differ on who the man is.
