about
Jala Krida Ekadashi is the Ekadashi of the dark fortnight of Jyestha, which other calendars call Apara Ekadashi. Devotees fast and worship Lord Vishnu, and give food and clothing to those in need, in the belief that the fast frees them from grave sins.
On this tithi (Jyeshtha Krishna Ekadashi) other regions keep Apara or Achala Ekadashi. Its katha tells of King Mahidhwaja, whose spirit stayed bound to a peepal tree until a sage kept the fast and gave its merit to him.
