about
Holika Dahan is the bonfire lit on the night before Holi. It recalls the burning of the demoness Holika and stands for the victory of good over evil. In Odisha, the Dola Purnima celebrations follow on the next day.
Holika Dahan recalls the story of Prahlad. His aunt Holika had a boon against fire and sat with him in the flames, but Prahlad, a devotee of Vishnu, was unharmed.
