Deva-durlabha Dasa (16th–17th century CE) was a distinguished medieval Odia Vaishnava poet who played a vital role in bridging the mystical devotional traditions of the Panchasakha era with the highly stylised, lyrical Kavya literature of later centuries. He is immortalised in Odia literature as the author of Rahasya Manjari, a masterwork of devotional narrative poetry composed in melodic Chhanda meters. Rahasya Manjari holds a unique and revered position in Odia Vaishnava literature for its profound exploration of Raganuga Bhakti—the esoteric, intense personal devotion centred on the divine love of Radha and Krishna. Blending spiritual allegory with refined poetic aesthetics, Deva-durlabha Dasa expounded deep theological concepts of Prema-bhakti while maintaining accessible narrative charm and emotional sweetness. His mastery over prosody, rich symbolic imagery, and lyrical craftsmanship significantly influenced subsequent poets of the Riti Yuga. His literary work remains a prized gem of classical Odia devotional heritage.
